R-410A Refrigerant
Energy Star and Reducing Operating Costs
Qualifying HVAC equipment, if installed in the homeowner’s primary residence and
placed in service between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010, may qualify for a
non-refundable tax credit under Section 25C of the Internal Revenue Code for 30% of
the cost, up to $1,500. To learn the full details regarding the tax credits, visit
http://www.energy.gov/taxbreaks.htm for more information.
- Equipment must be "placed in service" from January 1, 2009 through
December 31, 2010
- Must be for taxpayer's principal residence
- $1,500 is the maximum total amount that can be claimed for all products placed
in service in 2009 & 2010 for most home improvements, EXCEPT for
geothermal heat pumps, solar water heaters, solar panels, fuel cells, and small
wind energy systems which are not subject to this cap, and are in effect
through 2016
- Must have a Manufacturer Certification Statement to qualify
- For record keeping, save your receipts and the Manufacturer Certification
Statement
- Improvements made in 2009 will be claimed on your 2009 taxes (filed by April

All Season Air Conditioning and Heating uses recycled materials whenever possible. Business cards and invoices printed on recycled paper, introducing R-410A refrigerant, recycling old equipment, green filters and environmentally safe chemical cleaners are just some of the steps we are taking to help preserve the environment and the world we all live in.

R-410A, an environmentally friendly refrigerant used in air conditioning systems, does
not contribute to ozone depletion and is becoming more widely used, as ozone-
depleting refrigerants, like R-22, are phased out. Every major air conditioner
manufacturer in the United States has selected R-410A to replace R-22 in new
equipment. R-22 is being phased out, and the manufacturing plants that make R-22
will eventually be shut down or converted to make other chemicals. In 2003 the U.S.
EPA implemented an allocation program which limits both the companies who can
make and import R-22, and the amounts that they each can make or import. The
Clean Air Act requires that as of 2010, all new air conditioning and heat pump units
manufactured in North America will use chlorine-free refrigerants. So by choosing an
R-410A air conditioner or heat pump, you’re getting the latest in refrigerant
technology and helping the environment!

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) products that have earned the
ENERGY STAR meet the government's strict energy efficiency criteria and save
energy without compromising on product quality and performance. They use less
energy, lowering consumers' utility bills while preventing greenhouse gas emissions.
Even programmable thermostats, with proper use, can save consumers about $180
per year in energy costs according to www.energystar.gov. The ideal temperature
setting is 78 degrees Fahrenheit. Replacing old equipment with ENERGY STAR
products, when properly sized and installed, can reduce your heating costs by as
much as 40% and cooling costs as much as 50%. Plus, it may qualify you for utility
rebates. Also, make sure your equipment is properly sized for your home. If the
heating or cooling unit is too large for you home, it will frequently cycle on and off,
which will waste energy. Proper installation can dramatically affect how well your
system delivers comfort and savings. Choosing a reputable contractor will help
ensure that your system performs at optimal efficiency.
